Allowed Mods & Guidelines

This guide helps you determine which mods are allowed on the Venture SMP server. Examples are provided, but if a mod fits the description below, it’s allowed. Since we can’t review every mod or version, it’s your responsibility to ensure your mods follow the rules. When in doubt, ask a Moderator.

Allowed Modifications

✅ Performance Mods

Mods that boost FPS or reduce lag without affecting gameplay are allowed.

Examples:

• Optifine

• Sodium, Lithium, Phosphor

• Other FPS boosters (non-gameplay altering)

Note: Some FPS boosters may cause crashes or conflict with the server's resource pack.

✅ Cosmetic Mods

Mods that change visuals (like textures or shaders) are allowed if they don’t modify block properties or gameplay.

Examples:

• Shader/resource packs

• Animation mods (cosmetic only)

✅ HUD Mods

Mods that adjust the HUD are fine if they don’t reveal extra information (like player locations or cave maps).

Examples:

• Effect Status, Armor Status, InventoryHUD

• Minimap/world map mods (no entity tracking or cave markers)

• Coordinate mods

✅ Brightness Mods

Mods that enhance brightness or gamma for visibility are allowed if they don’t give unfair advantages.

Examples:

• Fullbright

• Gammabright

✅ Utility Mods

Mods with basic utilities are allowed, as long as they don’t automate tasks or provide unfair advantages.

Examples:

• Just Enough Items (JEI)

• F3 + B (Debug Tool)

• Chunk Borders, Toggle Sprint/Sneak

• Litematica (Disable Printer/EasyPlace features)

• Slot Locker, Appleskin

✅ Gameplay Recorders

Mods that allow players to record and replay their gameplay are allowed, as long as they only affect playback and don’t alter active gameplay. Changing perspectives during playback is fine, but perspective changes cannot be made during active gameplay.

Examples:

• Replay Mod

• Flashback

✅ Clients & Modpacks

Allowed as long as they don’t include unfair features.

Examples:

• Badlion Client, Lunar Client, LabyMod

• Macros (for chat/commands only, not automation)

Disallowed Modifications

❌ Gameplay-Altering Mods

Mods that change mechanics, visibility, or add unfair features are not allowed.

Examples:

• X-ray mods or texture packs

• Freecam, Cave/ore locators

• Minimap/entity tracking or death waypoints

❌ Automation Mods

Mods or scripts that automate tasks or play for you are prohibited.

Examples:

• Auto-clickers, auto-fishing

• Task automation scripts

• Baritone mod

❌ Unfair Information Mods

Mods that reveal hidden data or features unavailable in vanilla gameplay are banned.

Examples:

• Mob spawn/slime chunk displays

• Structure bounding box indicators

❌ Hacked Clients

Clients with cheats or prohibited features are strictly disallowed.

Examples:

• Wurst, Meteor, Kronos, Impact, etc.
