Item Filters

Say goodbye to laggy, bulky redstone sorters! Items Filters provide a clean, efficient way to automatically sort items in your storage system with minimal setup. No redstone logic needed.

How to Craft an Items Filter

You'll need:

  • 6x Cobbled Deepslate

  • 1x Hopper

  • 1x Observer

  • 1x Dropper

How to Use Items Filters

Items Filters transfer specific items from a container above to a container below, based on what’s stored in a reference container beside them.

Setup Steps:

1

Place the Filter Block

The face pointing toward you shows a small grey button. This toggles filter modes.

2

Attach a Reference Container

Attach a container (chest, barrel, etc.) to the observer face on the back.

📝 Fill it with the items you want the filter to pass through.

3

Add an Input Container

Place a container (chest, hopper, or shulker) directly above the filter block.

This is where your unsorted items will enter.

4

Choose an Output Target

You can place either:

  • A container below to collect filtered items

  • Or a fluid block (air, water, or lava) to let items drop out directly

âś… Only matching items will pass through the filter!

We highly recommend watching the tutorial video to better understand how this works.

Troubleshooting: If items aren’t filtering correctly, check the following:

  • Ensure the filter is in the correct mode (Lax vs. Strict)

  • Verify the reference container has the correct items inside

  • Confirm input/output containers are placed correctly

Filter Modes

Lax Mode (Default)

  • Button Color: Grey

  • Filters By: Item ID only

  • Example: Any Diamond Sword passes, regardless of enchantments or damage.

Strict Mode

  • Button Color: Yellow

  • Filters By: Item ID + all tags/components (NBT)

  • Example: Only identical Diamond Swords (same enchantments, durability, etc.) pass.

Toggle Mode: Right-click the grey button on the side of the filter block.
