Venture SMP uses a mod called to enable in-game voice communication.
Please note: Venture SMP does not own or develop Simple Voice Chat but provides support for its use on our server. This is our unofficial guide for how to install and use it. Official wiki:
What You Need:
Minecraft Java Edition Account
Minecraft Launcher
A mod loader: Fabric, Forge, or Quilt
The Simple Voice Chat mod (.jar file)
For Fabric: You'll also need Fabric API
Choose one:
Run the installer → pick your Minecraft version → install → launch Minecraft once using that loader.
Download Simple Voice Chat from:
Make sure the version matches your Minecraft version + mod loader.
If using Fabric, also download .
Press Win + R
and type %appdata%
, then go to .minecraft/mods
(Create a mods
folder if it doesn’t exist)
Drop the downloaded .jar
files into the mods
folder.
Open Minecraft Launcher
Choose the profile with your installed mod loader (e.g., fabric-loader
)
Click Play
Join a server that supports Simple Voice Chat (like Venture SMP)
Press V
in-game to open the voice menu
Set up your microphone and settings
Helpful Tips:
Ensure the mod loader version (Fabric/Forge/Quilt) matches your Minecraft version
Place mods in the correct .minecraft/mods
folder
Launch Minecraft with the mod loader profile selected
Check mic permissions and firewall if voice chat doesn’t work
Restart Minecraft if mods don’t load properly
1️⃣ Step 1: Install the Modrinth App
Download and install the Modrinth App from the official website.
2️⃣ Step 2: Set Up a Minecraft Instance
Open Modrinth Launcher
Click "+ Create Instance"
Choose:
Your Minecraft version
A mod loader (usually Fabric or Forge)
Open your instance
Go to the Mods tab
Click "+ Add Mod"
Search for "Simple Voice Chat"
Click Install
If you're using Fabric, Modrinth will usually auto-install Fabric API too.
Press Play
Join a server that supports Simple Voice Chat (like Venture SMP)
Press V
in-game to open the voice menu
Set up your microphone and settings
Helpful Tips:
Use the built-in mod search and install feature for easiest setup
Verify mod and loader versions match your Minecraft version
Modrinth usually auto-installs Fabric API if needed
Restart the launcher if mods don’t appear or work
Check your mic and push-to-talk settings in-game
1️⃣ Step 1: Install the CurseForge App
Download and install the CurseForge App from the official website.
Open CurseForge Launcher
Click "Create Custom Profile"
Select your Minecraft version and mod loader (Fabric, Forge, or Quilt)
Name your profile and create it
Open your profile → go to the "Add More Content" or Mods section
Search for "Simple Voice Chat"
Click Install
Make sure to install Fabric API if you're using Fabric.
Click Play on your profile
Join a server that supports SVC (e.g., Venture SMP)
Press V
to open voice chat settings
Helpful Tips:
Use “Create Custom Profile” for manual mod installs
Ensure Fabric API is installed alongside Simple Voice Chat if using Fabric
Double-check mod and Minecraft version compatibility
Restart the launcher if mods fail to load or cause crashes
Grant microphone permissions and check firewall settings
1️⃣ Step 1: Install Lunar Client Download and install Lunar Client from the official website.
2️⃣ Step 2: Select Fabric Version
Open Lunar Client
Go to the Versions tab
Choose a Fabric version matching your Minecraft version (e.g., Fabric 1.20.6)
Click the gear/settings icon next to the version
Click Open Mods Folder
3️⃣ Step 3: Add Simple Voice Chat
Download Simple Voice Chat .jar
mod for your Minecraft version from or
Download Fabric API if you don’t have it
Place both .jar
files into the mods folder you opened in Step 2
4️⃣ Step 4: Launch and Use
Start Minecraft with the selected Fabric version in Lunar Client
Join a server supporting Simple Voice Chat (e.g., Venture SMP)
Press V to open voice chat settings and configure your mic
Helpful Tips
Use Fabric versions in Lunar Client to support mods
Place mods in the exact mods folder Lunar Client opens
Be aware Lunar Client’s built-in mods can conflict with custom mods
Try switching to vanilla launcher if problems persist
Check mic permissions and firewall settings if voice chat isn’t working

2️⃣ Step 2: Select Fabric Version
Open Feather Client
Choose a Fabric Minecraft version that matches your mod (e.g., Fabric 1.20.6)
Open the Mods Folder via settings or the folder icon next to the version
3️⃣ Step 3: Add Simple Voice Chat
Download Simple Voice Chat .jar
mod for your Minecraft version from Modrinth or CurseForge
Download Fabric API if you don’t have it
Place both .jar
files into the mods folder you opened in Step 2
4️⃣ Step 4: Launch and Use
Launch Minecraft using the Fabric version in Feather Client
Join a server supporting Simple Voice Chat (e.g., Venture SMP)
Press V to open voice chat menu and configure your mic
Helpful Tips
Feather Client has a built-in voice chat. Disable it if it conflicts with Simple Voice Chat
Ensure mod and loader versions match your Minecraft version
Restart the client if mods don’t load properly
Check microphone permissions and firewall settings if voice chat doesn't work
